The Cayman Renewable Energy Association promotes awareness of Cayman’s renewable energy industry, thought leadership and renewable and efficient energy business opportunities through industry events, meetings, newsletters and the media.

As the recognised industry body representing Cayman’s renewable energy sector, CREA works with industry and government to help transition our to more efficient energy generation and use in homes and businesses.  Some of the things we do include:

  • Working with the Cayman Islands Government on the National Energy Policy (NEP) which outlines the adoption of renewable energy for the Cayman Islands . Read about the NEP here
  • We strive to influence policy, practice and position through responses and contributions to government and agency-led inquiries, papers, reviews, plans and programs
  • We assist in the development of career opportunities via renewable energy certification classes in collaboration with Government and the University College of the Cayman Islands to create green jobs, add in an effort to add another pillar to the local economy and establish Cayman as a destination of excellence for renewable energy in the Caribbean region
  • We facilitate collaboration between government, retail banking and private sector to develop programs that assist Cayman consumers with greater access to necessary capital for the adoption of clean and efficient energy

CREA also hosts an annual conference – the Caribbean Transitional Energy Conference – each year in September. The conference provides a forum for stakeholders to hear distinguished local and international experts discuss the latest advancements in renewable energy technology, as well as how island nations can look to create models for sustainability that are both replicable and scalable.
